The importance of sago (Metroxylon sp) from West Papua's natural forest lives in the hearts of its people, both as staple food and folklore. As told by Josua Mugurataru, an elder and former chief of Saga village in Metemani District of South Sorong region, Mother Nature provides sago for its children, the people of Papua, by balancing responsible community harvesting and industrial processing, natural sago forest can remain sustainable.
